Does not work1
I may have received a broken flash or the flash may just simply be incompatible with my Sony Alpha 300. All shots made with the auto setting came back severely underexposed. The only way to get a properly exposed shot is by using manual mode or setting the ISO speed for the camera at 1600 or above. Also, Forget about the slave flash/wireless function, Sony Alphas fire a pre-flash everytime, which means this flash fires even before the shutter opens. The instruction manual is generic for all mounts which makes it very confusing. In addition, you have to be careful about removing it from the camera's hotshoe, it requires a fairly huge amount of force to get it dismounted. In fairness to the seller, they've been very helpful with the return so if you want to try it, go ahead, what I got may just be a defective unit.

Good Buy4
Bought this for my Sony Alpha 200. No adapter shoe needed. Since this is a TTL flash, it is very easy to use and the manual settings allow for powerful lighting as well. Only negative is I didn't see a battery life indicator on the flash LCD, but minor. Overall a great buy.

Very happy with this flash unit5
I have owned this flash unit for around a year now and have shot 1000+ indoor shots with it. I use it on a Sony A300 with a DIY diffuser, large flash card, or external bracket with a small umbrella attached. While it has a TTL feature I shoot mostly in manual mode with the flash power dailed down to 1/16th to 1/4th power. The results have been wonderful. I have confidence in my indoor shots and have taken wonderful pictures of my family and friends. I do not use the popup on camera flash. The difference is just to great. I think the value is great. I am so happy that I did not have to spend the amount of money that Sony asks for their flash products. I only wish it dailed down to 1/32th. This past month I have started shooting most of my outdoor portraits in the shade in manual mode. The dailed down power produces very nice fill in light. I have both a continous and strobe lighting systems but find myself using the portable flash more and more. I plan on buying another.
